How to Develop Effective Time Management Skills

by Michael Wilson on July 25, 2010

In my coaching experience, there are a few key components to success that come up again and again.  One of the biggest keys is developing effective time management skills.

Deadline clock for time managementTime management is the holy grail of the home business person.  All of my clients want to accomplish more, and be more deliberate with their time choices.  All of them see time management in instrumental to increasing their profit (and sanity).  Some have researched time management exercises but find that it’s overwhelming just deciding what will work for them.  But few clients feel like they have effective time management skills.

The irony of time management is that when you need it, it’s too late for the project you’re already working on.  There’s no time for developing a new system.  But when you have time to learn some time management exercises, you are not motivated to do it.

It’s a lot like waiting until you’re sick to begin exercising.

I’ve got the answer for you.

Accelerating Success:  Time Management

Deborah Tutnauer and I have put together a 4 part webinar series, Accelerating Success, delving into why businesses fail and cooking up some great solutions so that you’re not one of them.  Part 2 is a time management presentation. In this webinar you will learn:

  • Different types of action plans and how to tailor them to your learning style
  • How to get more done in less time, without racing around like a caffeinated maniac
  • Tangible, practical steps you can take with virtually no extra effort which will put a stake in the heart of time vampires
  • How to sync your mind AND your body to your goals (your body is your partner in time management)

Sign up today for the webinar on Wednesday, July 28  (Here’s your first time management tip:  Don’t procrastinate–this is a 2 minute task so do it now!)

Accelerating Success: Time Management for Business Owners

Are You Living a Purpose Driven Life?

July 21, 2010

Take a moment and remember what you hoped for when you started your career, many years ago.

I’d bet a poppy seed bagel with cream cheese AND an orange juice that you imagined something meaningful, something important, something significant happening in [...]

Business Plans: Simple and Easy Gets the Job Done

July 7, 2010

What do you think of when I say “write a business plan”?
Do you picture a horrible, thick pack of papers with charts and graphs and projections?
That is what a business plan was in the corporate world I worked in.
But years ago when I was coaching a client, I learned that a good plan is very [...]

Multiple Monitors: Increase Virtual Real Estate and Save Time

July 7, 2010

As internet marketers, we are always in a bind to get our to-do list done.
We blog, write articles, tweet, Facebook, comment, and write website pages. We create links, design pages, edit images and learn code. We research facts and make online friends.
With all this activity, I’m multi-tasking all day–and I always want a [...]

Quick Start to LinkedIn–The Professional Social Site

July 6, 2010

With all of the talk about Facebook and Twitter these days, it’s easy to forget one of the best places for professionals to practice social marketing–LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is a business-like social networking site.  It’s all “suit and tie” and “we’re here to make money”.  It has similarities to other social networking sites, but it’s the differences [...]

Annoying at Dawn, Boring at Midday, and Attractive at Dusk?

June 15, 2010

Do you remember the riddle of the sphinx?  What walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in midday and 3 legs in the evening?
Man.
We crawl in the dawn of our lives, walk during the day and use a cane in the evening of our lives.
Well, the sphinx is one of my favorite wise [...]

I’m preparing to go to a Marketing Training Event in Las Vegas with Mark Hoverson.

April 6, 2010

One of the most powerful tips for people just starting in their internet business is also one that beginners rarely practice–outsourcing.
Often, when people start their internet business, they do it on a shoestring.  Let’s be honest–we have all seen dozens of e-books and free reports that proclaim that you can start your business for less [...]
