Outsourcing benefits all entrepreneurs, from small business owners to solo entrepreneurs. Leverage, focus, growth, profits, and ultimately more happiness are just a few of the outsourcing benefits you can look forward to.
The most obvious outsourcing benefit is leveraging your time.
When you invest time into training an outsourcer and they work independently, you have leveraged your time. An hour of training produces multiple hours of work, and once your outsourcer is fully trained, you will not need to invest much more for that task.
Another way to leverage your time is to record your training to use with your next outsourcer. With permanent training materials like videos, documents, or PowerPoints, you can train unlimited people with same effort it took to train one person.
Most people understand these types of leverage. What is more impressive, however, is taking leverage to the next level. Train your outsourcer to train others. Now your time has the potential to really scale.
As a solo entrepreneur, your success is always limited by how much you can produce in a day until you start to outsource. Leverage is critical to building a business that grows beyond your personal schedule.
Solo entrepreneurs have a common delusion: they think they have to do it all. Often small business owners spend their days chasing details which distract them from the real purpose of their business. These distractions are not only annoying, they can be costing your business success.
- If you are constantly interrupted, you will never get ahead.
- If you try to do everything from web design to SEO to content creation to list management, you will never get ahead.
- If you think you must participate in all aspects of your marketing, you will never get ahead.
You need to focus.
You must focus.
Spend you time on your core genius–the activities you do well and easily and without effort. Outsource everything else.
To prove this point to yourself, spend one week working solely on your core genius activities. Don’t touch anything else. Your business will seem completely different. You will be more relaxed, satisfied, and most importantly, more productive than you have felt in a long time.
When you outsource the activities that distract you, you can focus on what you are good at and what you enjoy. This focus is one of the greatest outsourcing benefits.
Business growth is limited without outsourcing because growth is dependent on leverage. In other words, your business can not really grow until you outsource.
This is counter intuitive for many people. Many new entrepreneurs think they must show substantial growth before outsourcing, but I recommend outsourcing first.
Outsourcing, like all skills, has a learning curve. You have to practice to get good at finding, training and managing outsourcers. If you wait until you have critical need of outsourcers, you have no time to learn. At critical mass, you can make mistakes and miss opportunities as they arise because you’re not prepared.
Here’s an example of what I mean.
Let’s imagine that you create a really great product. Your readers love it. You have orders coming in and suddenly, you can’t keep up. Your new product means you have to give customer support, and answer questions on your blog. You want to take advantage of the increased links you’re getting, so you have to watch who is talking about you. You’re being interviewed and you have lots of video and sound files to edit. You have all the problems that you have dreamed of having!
But with no outsourcing systems in place, how do you keep up? You’re 0 to 60 without a seat belt. And if you don’t keep up, what happens? Unhappy customers. Missed opportunities. Floundering.
If you want to be ready for business acceleration, you must already be outsourcing. Outsourcing unleashes exponential business growth.
Profit is the king of outsourcing benefits. All of the other benefits–leverage, focus and growth, lead to increased profits. And while mismanaged outsourcing can decrease profits, properly executed outsourcing increases profits.
Outsourcing benefits are many. Leverage saves you time; focus makes you more efficient, the potential for growth increases and all of this leads to profits.
