Video testimonials are our favorite way to share good reviews with potential clients. We’ve gotten to the point where we use a few ideas to make it simple and comfortable to get video testimonials from all the clients we work with. Here are the three things to remember:
- Comfortable setting: To us, this means we want to catch the client when they are in a good mood and willing to give a good testimonial. One of the best times is at the final walkthrough. The buyer is just about to get their house and they’re excited, which means it’s the perfect time.
- Good lighting: You want lighting to come towards the people you’re shooting, so don’t have a window behind them because it will throw off the shot. A little bit of preparation and forethought makes a huge difference. We recommend putting a simple rider somewhere in the background; we use one that says “SOLD by NoVa Real Estate Group.” It’s an easy way to brand the video.
- Good is good enough: All of our agents carry a smartphone and an iPad. Whichever one you have that shoots the highest quality video is good enough. Make sure it’s widescreen and steady, and overall good enough to be posted online. Ask them nice, easy, comfortable questions (two at the most!) that you’ve set up in advance. You really only want the video to be 15 to 30 seconds. Once you’ve captured them saying something good, it’s good enough!
A good video testimonial that you can actually publish quickly is far better than a great testimonial that you never shoot!
